The Xbox360 was coined after a marketing firm that it hired conducted a survey which asked people whether they thought the Xbox name evoked a more “next generation” or “next-gen” sound. It was apparent that Microsoft was having some worries at that time that sticking to Xbox2 as the name of its new video game console would make it appear or sound older or less “cutting-edge” than its main rival, the PlayStation 3 or PS3.

Interestingly enough, practically everyone that’s considering purchasing a new gaming console usually ends up asking which is better, the PlayStation 3 or the X-Box360. However, you ideally need to take a good look at both the platforms in order to determine what features each one has, and what it is that sets them apart. Remember, both platforms make use of the very latest technology, including graphics and audio. Also, even though the specifications for both platforms may seem to be practically identical on paper, in reality you may find that there’s quite a big difference in terms of reliability as well as performance.

Stretching your money to afford a new game or two for your gaming console is hard enough to do today. Buying a new gaming system is outrageous. But what are you to do when your old one decides it has played it’s last game? There are a couple of choices. You can either go spend your hard earned money and buy a new system, which could possibly be $500 or more or you can go to the discount store in your area.

Do you remember the long lines of customers waiting to enter consumer electronics stores when the Nintendo Wii first was released? Those not “in the know” thought it was somewhat curious that people would be so ravenous for a new gaming system that they would whither the elements to purchase a new gaming console. However, the Nintendo Wii was more than just a “new gaming console.” It was a brilliant technological achievement that further continued the pattern of excellence Nintendo was known for.
